Criminal charges filed against David James Elliot spelled different than spelling given by police at press conference

The criminal charges filed against David James Elliot by the Grand Forks County States Attorney’s Office spell his name “David James Elliott”. During the first press conference held regarding the shooting of David Elliot by a police officer in the Altru hospital parking lot, the following exchange took place. UND Police Chief Eric Plummer: “We can name the suspect. The subject involved was David Elliot – a forty one year-old male from Grand Forks” Reporter: Can you spell Elliot? UND Police Chief Eric Plummer: E-L-L-I-O-T – first name of David. Elliot’s name has been spelled “Elliot” by WDAZ, Valley News Live, KVRR, KXMC, KFGO, and many other news outlets. Documents under Court No. 18-2015-CR-00632 contain Affidavits from different agencies, with various spellings of Elliot’s last name. Using the spelling that Plummer provided the public at the press conference; no file for David Elliot appears in the system. |
